59 & Fabulous: On the Cover of The Times Riviera!
As I sit down to write this, I still find it hard to believe that I've been selected as the cover model for the prestigious Times Riviera for the month of May. It's an honor beyond words, and it's a testament to the changing landscape of the fashion and modeling industry. But let me take you back to how this journey began.
I'm no stranger to the world of fashion, but who knew at 59 I could even do this?!
As I prepare to travel to the south of France in May, I'm filled with a mix of excitement and gratitude. Not only will I have the opportunity to see my face plastered across 52 billboards in Cannes during the illustrious Cannes Film Festival, but I'll also be attending the Formula One Grand Prix weekend in Monaco, where the buzz around the magazine will undoubtedly be palpable. The magazine will also be sponsoring the WIBA (World Influencer Business Awards) which will be held in Cannes at that same time.
The Times Riviera isn't just any magazine; it's a symbol of luxury, sophistication, and style. To be associated with it, even for just one month, feels like a dream come true. But what's even more remarkable is the timing of it all.
In an industry often criticized for its tough standards, the rise of older models like myself is a refreshing change. The fashion world is finally beginning to recognize the beauty and elegance that come with age. And as a 59-year-old woman, I couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of this shift.
The Cover Story
The opportunity to grace the cover of Times Riviera magazine came about in a rather unexpected manner. A few months ago, Sarah Lyons Glabman (the photographer behind these stunning images) approached me with a shoot concept, with the goal to pitch it to the magazine's team. To our delight, they loved the images and selected one for the cover feature.
In the making of our latest Times Riviera Cover, photographer Sarah Lyons Glabman meticulously scouted locations that complemented our haute couture ensembles. Despite time constraints, Arizona's gardens became the perfect backdrop, blending elegance with natural beauty. The feature celebrates femininity and empowerment, reflecting my journey through fashion capitals and exotic destinations, while embodying the unapologetically female spirit.
It's a dream come true to be associated with Times Riviera, a beacon of culture and style in the South of France. This journey underscores the power of seizing opportunities and taking leaps of faith. I'm incredibly grateful for this serendipitous turn of events and excited for the journey ahead.
The Interview/Article
The interview was relaxed, focusing mainly on my business background and modeling experience. Surprisingly, they also threw in some fun travel and wine-related questions, adding an enjoyable twist to the conversation. As for the photo shoot, it spanned two days across various stunning locations in Arizona, each carefully selected to complement the shoot's theme.
Our team, consisting of a lighting grip, videographer, makeup artist and hair stylist (MUAH), stylist, and of course, the photographer, worked seamlessly to bring the vision to life. Perched atop mountains and amidst picturesque landscapes, I gracefully balanced on rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, and grassy knolls, all while sporting towering 5-inch heels.
The days were gruelingly long, often beginning at 6 am and lasting until sunset. Yet, despite the challenges—whether it was battling the elements or perfecting difficult poses—there was an undeniable sense of fulfillment and joy in the work. Building strong relationships with the team proved invaluable, offering support and camaraderie when faced with unexpected hurdles, like broken heels or sudden rain showers.
In the end, while modeling demanded dedication and patience, it was undeniably rewarding. The blend of hard work, laughter, and shared experiences made for an unforgettable experience.
