Sipping on a warm, afternoon latte is the best way to transition from the busyness of day into the relaxation of evening. The golden milk latte, also known as the turmeric latte, combines natural, whole ingredients together for a warm, comforting afternoon sip.

Without any caffeine or dairy, you might wonder why we even bother calling it latte. But, after simmering the ingredients together over the stove and even frothing the drink for the full-fledge latte experience, you will understand. You can sub in any type of non-dairy milk to soften the slightly bitter taste of the turmeric and create a more creamy consistency. I also added vanilla extract into mine for that extra edge of cozy.

Turmeric, the main ingredient in the golden milk latte, gives the drink its yellow hue. You most likely have used the Indian spice in curries, sauces, and dressings for its nutty flavor and bright color. But, it also has a fantastic ROI. The little spice comes packed with nutritional value. Especially in this current pandemic, we want to bolster our immunity from every possible outlet in order to stay healthy. So, add this latte into your diet for a feel good, taste good experience.

Health Benefits

Turmeric has grown in popularity over the last few years for reducing your body's inflammation. You can take it in supplement form, as a whole root, or in ground powder. Its largest active ingredient, curcumin, contains anti-inflammatory properties that can aid in reducing inflammation. But your body does need a little assistance in order to absorb the curcumin, which is why the latte's ingredients' list contains black pepper and coconut oil. Black pepper enhances absorption by 2,000% and the healthy fat in the coconut oil works like a life raft for the the body to break down and absorb the fat-soluble curcumin together with the oil.

More information has been coming out that the COVID-19 virus attacks previously inflamed systems. Reducing inflammation potentially can prevent people from incurring the virus as well as reduce the havoc that the virus plays on weakened immune systems. The curcumin, ginger, and cinnamon also all work together to boost your immunity and help fight off bacteria, viruses, and illness.


Ingredients:

(Serves: 1 | Time: 15min)

- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

- 1 tsp. honey

- ¼ tsp. ground turmeric

- ¼ tsp. ground ginger

- ⅛  tsp. ground cinnamon

- ½ tsp. vanilla extract

- ½ tsp. coconut oil

- 1 pinch ground black pepper

Instructions:

1. In a small saucepan, add the almond milk, honey, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper.

2. Whisk together until the ingredients combine and let it heat until steaming for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally and do not let it come to a boil.

3. Remove it from the heat, then stir in the coconut oil and vanilla extract.

4. Have some fun and froth your latte before pouring it into your mug and enjoying.
