It's National Read a Book Day! Susan Hoff shares several of her current favorite reads.
In light of National Read a Book Day, I wanted to share several books that I am currently enjoying and recommend. The following three books are currently on my bedside table. Yes, there are three! I like to hop back and forth between books depending on my mood for the evening.
By: Tom Brady
I follow Tom Brady as a seasoned athlete. He has accomplished much and continues to do so in a sport built for younger athletes. He is my hero! Never second guess a GOAT — my bet is always on him. As a football fan I’m looking forward to watching him make his own way on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers also selected two University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in the draft for the 2020 season. I will definitely be keeping an eye on Brady, Gronk, and the rest of the Bucs this year!

While working towards my MBA at the University of Bordeaux in 2006, I learned to love the cuisine of France and all the specialties they consider comfort food. The culture prizes fresh oysters, rabbit, duck fat fries, honey, and wine. Especially red wine — Cabernet to be exact.
This book includes recipes, illustrates some French history, and explains why eating an “ancestral diet” is healthier than most modern diets. It draws from the work of nutrition researchers and was recommended by my health coach certification, Primal Blueprint. It’s full of beautiful photos, yummy recipes, and great nutrition advice. I always get inspired to cook when I read it.
By: Royal Palms Resort and Spa
Okay, I’ll be honest. Sometimes it’s just nice to look at beautiful photos and dream you were there again — especially during this COVID19 Pandemic when travel is nearly non-existent.
I discovered The Royal Palms Resort and Spa during one of my photo shoots for a bikini company I model for. I was fortunate enough to stay there after the shoot while I attended a Driven Campaign committee meeting for the University of Minnesota at a neighboring resort.
This book is full of beautiful photos woven around the history of Arizona, the hotel, and its cuisine. It contains compelling stories, tantalizing recipes, and some great design ideas to capture for your own home. I loved it so much that I bought it from The Royal Palms. I recommend you stay there with a loved one at least once and take in all it has to offer — including the relaxing spa and two-story gym.
